چکیده
Abstract For the present study numerical simulations of subcooled flow boiling FC-72 in microgravity have been conducted to accompany experiments performed on International Space Station (ISS). The domain represents geometry experimental test cell. all open source framework OpenFOAM was employed, including extensions interFoam solver, which developed at authors’ institute. A reference case has defined applying intermediate values from parameter range as system parameters. This examined thoroughly with regards hydrodynamic phenomena and heat transfer during multiple, successive bubble cycles. Based this case, parameters velocity, input flux, pre-heating time, subcooling liquid bulk varied, impact these quantities growth movement well studied. It found, that an increased rate lead smaller bubbles time between subsequent nucleations. high a decreased rapid cycle nucleation coalescence.

Development of a Numerical Model for Subcooled Boiling Flow
Population balance equations combined with a threedimensional two-fluid model are employed to predict bubbly flows with the presence of heat and mass transfer processes. Subcooled boiling flow belongs to this specific category of bubbly flows is considered. The MUSIG (MUltiple-SIze-Group) model implemented in CFX4.4 is further developed to account for the wall nucleation and condensation in the...

Subcooled flow boiling in multi-microchannels can be used as an efficient thermal management approach in compact electrical devices. Highly subcooled flow boiling of HFE 7100 is studied in two microchannel heat sinks to choose a proper numerical model for simulating boiling flows in microchannels. Results of five different numerical models, including Volume of Fluid (VOF), Eulerian boiling, Eul...
متن کاملAssessment of dimensionless CHF correlations for subcooled flow boiling in microgravity and Earth gravity
A comprehensive review and analysis of prior subcooled flow boiling CHF correlations was conducted to identify those correlations that provide the most accurate predictions for dielectric working fluids and small rectangular flow passages found in electronics cooling applications in both microgravity and Earth gravity. Since most prior correlations were derived from water databases, only those ...
متن کاملCHF model for subcooled flow boiling in Earth gravity and microgravity
This study is the first attempt at extending the Interfacial Lift-off CHF Model to subcooled flow boiling conditions. A new CHF database was generated for FC-72 from ground tests as well as from microgravity tests that were performed in parabolic flight trajectory. These tests also included high-speed video imaging and analysis of the liquid–vapor interface during the CHF transient. Both the CH...
متن کاملFlow boiling CHF in microgravity
Poor understanding of flow boiling in microgravity has recently emerged as a key obstacle to the development of many types of power generation and life support systems intended for space exploration. This study examines flow boiling CHF in microgravity that was achieved in parabolic flight experiments with FC-72 onboard NASA s KC-135 turbojet. At high heat fluxes, bubbles quickly coalesced into...
